SELF ASSESSMENT WHO YOU ARE | Your Skill Set | Suggested Readings | Worksheets ... How Values, Interests, Personality and Skills shape your career and job choices Begin assessing yourself by exploring your core values, interests, personality, and skills, also known as VIPS. A better understanding of "who you are" will help you to identify the right career direction for you. You have the freedom to choose or change your career path at any time, depending on your situation, level of experience, interest, and acquired skills. Remember there's more than one right job for you. You should assess yourself regularly, and especially when you are ready for a career change. There are a variety of personality tests that you can use to better understand your personal style. One of these is called the Jung Typology Test. Although this test will not always provide definite answers to what career or job is the absolute best, it will go far in aiding your decision process. What are your personal priorities? Everyone’s priorities change as they go through life. What seemed so important right out of college might not even be relevant in your life any more. Sometimes life changes quickly and our priorities follow. Because of that it is important to assess personal priorities often, preferably at least once a year. Now, use this Personal Priorities Worksheet (26K Word) to assist you in identifying your personal priorities. |
