Joe Chiovera, Charlotte Campus Representative, grew up in northern New Jersey. As a student, Joe was instrumental in various school activities, part-time work, and intramural sports. During his years at JWU, he participated in the Walt Disney Co-op Education Program as well as became a Resident Assistant at Minden Hall on the Providence Campus.

Upon graduation from Johnson & Wales, Joe began his career as the Chef da Garde Manager at Café des Artistes in Manhattan, N.Y., Later, Joe went on to pursue another opportunity at the American Harvest Restaurant in the Vista Hotel at the World Trade Center Joe was later recruited by Marriott Management Services and then became the Director of Catering and Special Events for Georgetown University handling the planning, executing, and managing catered functions.

In 2000 Joe was recruited by ExxonMobil from Sheetz, Inc. to generate their food service program. In his current position, Joe is responsible for all new product, concept, and private label development within several food and beverage related categories. Previously, Joe was responsible for bringing the On the Run Café Brand to market and later managed Operations in the Charlotte market. Joe is an active member of the National Association of Convenience Stores and presently serves on the Advisory Board for the Center of Food Innovation at Penn State University, as well as  several other industry associated boards.

Joe's main focus is to educate the alumni on the merits of utilizing, supporting, and promoting industry initiatives which are equally important to the Johnson & Wales community.

Joe has an Associates Degree in Culinary Arts and a Bachelors Degree in Food Service Management from Johnson & Wales University. He has furthered his studies at Indiana University of Pennsylvania earning graduate credits towards his MBA as well as received his Food Services Management Professional (FMP) designation from the National Restaurant Association. Joe and his wife Deanna live in Charlotte and have two children, Xavier 9 and Giuseppe 5.
