Ya’nelle Powell, Undergraduate Representative, is the Student Services Coordinator and Re-entry Coordinator at the National School of Technology, a subsidiary of Corinthian Colleges, Inc.  As the Student Services Coordinator, she provides student activities, clubs and organizations, and student assistance.

As the re-entry coordinator, Ya’nelle, along with the Academic Department, is responsible for maintaining an 85% retention rate.  She also works with students that have dropped out of school or have taken a Leave of Absence with returning to school.

Ya’nelle was second in her family to complete college.  She was accepted at Johnson & Wales University with a DECA scholarship.  She was active in Delta Epsilon Chi, being elected the chapter president during her sophomore year.  Ya’nelle was also appointed reporter/historian and secretary/treasurer for the Florida Delta Epsilon Chapter, as well as being elected Vice President and President. Ya’nelle was also very active with the Collegiate Ambassador Team, serving on the Executive Board for two years.  Ya’nelle was also the co-founder of the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Program at the North Miami campus.  Ya’nelle was fortunate enough to work as a student assistant for the School of Arts and Sciences and the College of Business. Ya’nelle graduated with her Bachelors Degree in Marketing in 2005.

Ya’nelle, along with the rest of the council members, looks forward to taking the Johnson & Wales University’s Alumni Council and the University to new heights.

Ya’nelle looks forward to every minute that she gets to spend with her daughter.  She also enjoys reading, traveling, and of course shopping.  Ya’nelle also enjoys volunteering to assist less fortunate and abused children as well as the elderly.  Currently Ya’nelle is working on pursing her M.B.A.
