A goal of the Johnson & Wales Alumni Council is to be the voice of alumni; a link between more than 72,000 alumni and the University. In an effort to continue that role, council President Jodi Huyler '94 would like to make alumni aware of strategic goals the Office of Alumni Relations has developed, in conjunction with your council.

The new priorities focus on four areas in which to develop new initiatives, programming, and services: admissions, academics, alumni career services and advancement.  Within each area, there are many ways for alumni to continue their involvement.

admissions Alumni already assist in recruitment efforts around the country, speaking at Admissions Informational Meetings (AIMS) and attending Open House events on campus.  By sharing experiences, alumni help guide students and parents in the decision to choose Johnson & Wales, giving insight into what they can expect to achieve after graduation.

academics The talents and knowledge of J&W alumni are an endless resource for faculty in every college.  Alumni may return as a Distinguished Visiting Chef (DVC), Distinguished Visiting Professor or speak to entrepreneurship students on the real world challenges of owning a business.  Faculty often seek alumni to come back and share their wisdom with current students.

career services  The alumni career services office strives to not only provide resources to alumni who are searching in their own career, but connect with alumni who are in a position to hire other grads and students.  Whether coming back to interview students during on-campus recruiting, or representing your company at Career Day, this is your opportunity to tap into the best resource J&W has to offer - its graduates.

advancement  With so many ways to give back through time and skill, there are also opportunities to assist in fund-raising and endowment.  This includes the Alumni Council Scholarship Fund, Tsunami Relief Fund, and other gifts or various fund-raisers held throughout the year.

From the first impression that they University makes to prospective students, to the last it makes upon alums, the alumni council and association members play an integral part in Johnson & Wales University.
