Barry Frieser '95
General Manager, Sodexho

 


Barry Frieser began his career with Marriott Corporation in Washington as an assistant manager at the Brookings Institution, where he learned all aspects of the contract food service business. After two years of learning the inner workings of Marriott, he was promoted to director of food services at the U.S. Treasury Department, Marriott's first corporate food service account.

Although already successful in his career, Barry felt he needed more knowledge of cooking and back of the house fundamentals to elevate his career to the next level. Barry left Marriott in the summer of 1993 to attend Johnson & Wales where he received an associate's degree in culinary arts. Two weeks after graduating, he returned to Marriott as general manager of food services for Siemens Stromberg-Carlson, a multi-national corporation headquartered in Boca Raton, Fla.

Three years later, Barry transferred to the campus services division of the company, now called Sodexho. He is a certified NRA approved ServSafe Food Safety Instructor for Sodexho and conducts sanitation classes for other Sodexho managers throughout Florida. Barry is currently the general manager for Sodexho at Barry University Dining Services.
