Food & Wine named Dale Reitzer one of the “Best New Chefs of
America” award winners in 1999. His restaurant, Acacia, has been
rated one of the top five best restaurants by Style Weekly, Richmond Times
Dispatch and Richmond Magazine since it first opened. Southern Living says, “American
regional is the way Chef Dale Reitzer describes his food at Acacia. I just
call it wonderful.”
Dale
has worked and trained at celebrated restaurants in the Norfolk and Richmond
area, including his premier position as Chef de Cuisine
at The Frog and The Redneck. In 1996, Dale, his future wife Aline, and
their
dog, Acacia, moved to Atlanta. The following year was spent learning
and admiring Chef Gunther Seeger’s great talent and passion
in a five star, five diamond setting.
Dale and Aline married in May 1997 and moved back to Richmond to open
their restaurant, Acacia, nine months later.
Dale is actively involved
in the Richmond community with local and national charities, and collaborates
with state departments and associations to promote local Virginia products.
Dale and Aline launched Restaurant Week in 2002, an event which benefits
area food banks.
