Having traveled the globe to help everyday people with their cooking challenges, Tyler has developed a unique perspective on how Americans like to eat and cook today. He is a champion for the cooking of “real kitchens” and has received acclaim for his creativity and dedication to the art of cooking. He has been recognized as a leading chef by Bon Appetit, Food & Wine, GQ, Wall Street Journal, and USA Weekend, and named the Sexiest Chef Alive in 2003 by People.

tyler florenceAfter graduation, Tyler honed his skills in New York with some of the city's premier chefs. During the following years he firmly established himself at the lauded restaurants Cibeo and Cafeteria. Tyler made his television debut in 1996 with guest appearances on the Food Network, and his national appeal was confirmed with the launch of his own show, Food 911, three years later.

He has since hosted several Food Network shows, including: How to Boil Water; My Country, My Kitchen; Tyler's Ultimate; All American Festivals; and Planet Food. Tyler is a regular on NBC's TODAY show and has appeared on The View, The Tonight Show, CNN, E!, and Access Hollywood, among others.

Tyler’s debut cookbook, Tyler Florence’s Real Kitchen, hit bookstores in 2003, and has been nominated for an IACP award. He sits on the board of the Culinary Council for Marshall Fields, and has launched a kitchen product line in Mervyn’s department stores.

In 2004, Tyler was recognized for his achievements with an honorary doctorate degree from Johnson & Wales University, and served as a dynamic commencement speaker for the College of Culinary Arts ceremony.
