In 1984, at the age of 14, Andrew Husbands took his first after-school job in a neighborhood bakery in Needham, Mass. A transplant from Seattle, Andy held
many restaurant jobs throughout high school before beginning his professional training in culinary arts at Johnson & Wales University’s Providence Campus.
After graduating from college and spending time traveling on his motorcycle out West, Andy apprenticed at several San Francisco Bay area restaurants and an
organic farm in New Mexico. When he returned to Boston, Andy partnered with his high school friend to accomplish his life long dream – opening his own
restaurant. The pair took their joint savings and focused their time in finding financial advisors, architects and potential investors, eventually turning a raw retail space into a beautiful and funky high-end eating establishment, Tremont 647, which opened its doors in December of 1996.
Andy’s 70-seat restaurant in Boston’s South End features boldly flavored American cuisine with global influences and locally-grown ingredients. The restaurant
changes its menu bimonthly over the course of eight seasons to ensure that the freshest dishes are featured among its outstanding selections.
A published author, Andy’s first cookbook, “The Fearless Chef,” was released in September of 2004 with a full radio, television and bookstore tour. Andy has made a commitment to giving back to the local community through Operation Frontline Boston and Share our Strength, two organizations that allow Andy to use his culinary talents to do major good.
