Joshua L. Wright '97
Senior Security Researcher - Aruba Networks

Educating the public and protecting large organizations against security breaching are two talents that Joshua Wright has down pat. He has put the Information Science degree that he earned at Johnson & Wales University to ultimate use as the senior security researcher for Aruba Networks.

Joshua began his career at JWU as the team leader of Information Technology projects both at the Providence and Denver campuses. At JWU, he was successful in shaping the communication security infrastructure for the university. He worked closely with various departments to ensure confidentiality safeguards were in place to protect confidential student information and the integrity of university assets.w

Having fearlessly mastered intricate computer security systems, Joshua went on to the SANS Institute, a globally respected research and training institution. While there, he was a featured speaker at computer security conferences throughout the United States, delivering keynote presentations of consumer information and corporate intellectual property. As a research analyst for the company, he worked with major vendors such as Cisco Systems, Oracle, Apple and Microsoft on improving their product security. Joshua also advised fortune 500 companies and federal agencies including the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Defense on techniques to defend their systems from electronic attacks.

Now, as senior security researcher for Aruba Networks, Joshua continues to work closely with large, publicly traded organizations including Google, Yahoo!, and Intel, on wireless computer security systems. He continues to speak frequently at public and private information security conferences, on the topics of privacy and anonymity of risks in wireless systems for the United States Army and the Pentagon.

Joshua has also co-authored three books and authored several papers regarding novel computer security analysis methods published by McGraw Hill, SANS Press and Syngress Press. When he is not working, Joshua loves to spend time with his family, experimenting with digital video editing and production, gardening and maintaining his koi pond. Joshua makes his home with his wife, Jennifer, his daughter Maya, and son Ethan.
