Roland M. Boucher, C.P.A. '72
Chief Financial Officer - Cardi Corporation

Known as an innovative problem solver and an accountant’s accountant, Roland M. Boucher ’72 has certainly proven the true success of a Johnson & Wales University education.

As a high energy strategist with very strong technical skills, Roland applies a balanced and afocused experience in financial structuring to maximize return on investment and protect assets. He has a unique breadth of exposure and ability to quickly learn industries and markets. His expertise includes site, road, bridge, utility and building construction; real estate development and management; hotel and restaurant manufacturing; transportation and distribution. As the chief financial officer for the Cardi Corporation, Rhode Island’s largest heavy highway contractor, he was able to overhaul the company’s financing structure through matching debt to the assets and overall operations.  He also implemented cost containment strategies in insurance, risk management, payroll taxes, financial reporting, corporate excise, and improved accounting procedures that reduced costs by millions.

Prior to joining Cardi Corporation, Roland worked for The Claremont Companies, a large real estate developer, property management and syndication group, for which he restructured the organization and obtained financing from international and non-conventional sources to create a financially sound company.

Roland received his M.B.A. in Finance from Bryant University and his B.S. in Accounting from Johnson & Wales University.  He has post graduate studies in taxation through the Bryant University’s CAGS program, and real estate courses through the Weaver School of Real Estate. He’s also had his Real Estate Broker’s license for more than thirty years.

Roland is active in civic, religious and government groups including NRI Community Services for more than 20 years and the North Smithfield Town Council for 10 years.  He is an elder at his church and was also involved in Bosnia, Croatia and Kosovo relief missions and refugee resettlement efforts.
